Sonic Mania Plus Revealed As Well As A Newly Teased Sonic Game

As reported earlier in the year, the Sonic the Hedgehog panel took place this evening at the South by Southwest event.

Key announcements from the event were a physical version of Sonic Mania, called Sonic Mania Plus.

This new edition is not just a simple physical edition of the game, and comes with some additions including an all new Encore mode, which will offer new ways to explore the existing zones in the game, as well as some new visual changes.

The game will include 2 long forgotten Sonic characters, Ray the Squirrel, of arcade game SegaSonic fame, and Mighty the Armadillo, who was also in the former, and starred with Knuckles in the 32X game, Chaotix. The competition mode will also be boosted from 2, to 4 players.

The game will also come bundled with a 32 page art book, and a holographic reversible cover with a retro flavoured alternative side.

Sonic Mania Plus will release on Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, and Xbox One this summer for the incredibly reasonable price of $29.99.

It was also confirmed that those who have already purchased a digital copy of the game would be able to also benefit from the new additions via a DLC download although pricing for this is yet to be announced.

A new mystery Sonic game was also teased by the panel, the short teaser of which can be viewed by clicking this link. Lizuka, the head of Sonic Team, would only give away one other piece of information in that, the game is not a sequel to any existing Sonic game.
